Your Journey Through Life at Harrah told by you

By Joe Manek

One of my earliest recollections was when my Grandmother, Louise Goeders Beal, would take my sister and I by the hand and walk to the brush arbor meetings called church where Gospel songs were sung. My sister Mary Ellen and I can remember the ministers named George McCoy and B. Price, and Bob Spencer (Bill & Jim’s father) was known as the Preacher.

The brush arbor was located on a farm located at 50th street and 63rd (or 63rd and Choctaw Road), owned by Steve Pensonal. George and Louise Beal rented this farm. The north end of the farm was forested and where the church was located. Near the church was a peach orchard, and a cotton gin was located in that area also.

A farm nearby was owned by Fred Deal who later owned the Ford dealership in Jones, Oklahoma.
